THE LOCATION This gift shop and café are within walking distance of the Habitation in Port-Royal, which was the birth place of Canada in 1605. This historic site is staffed by tour guides but does not operate a shop. This is the only gift shop within 15 miles. The Habitation was the first permanent European settlement in the Americas north of St-Augustine, Florida. 100,000 tourists visit the site each year. Here are some pictures of the interior of the Habitation rebuilt following the plan laid out by Champlain In 1605. |
